Thailand

3-Apr-08  Before I left Thailand I wanted to visit my old friend Clem.  Bill delivered me to the Udon train station and I was pleased and honored that Ajarn Bancoab came to see me off.  He’s retired now but works as a trouble-shooter for the president of the University.  He’s a wise man whose counsel I value.

Clem picked me up at dawn at the station in Rangsit and then we went to pick up Lat, his current girlfriend.  We arrived in Pattaya in the early afternoon and checked into the hotel.  Even though I had spent 3 years in Thailand, I had never visited this infamous city of 10,000 bars.  We had some Mexican food and visited a few bars.  Egil from Iceland was our tour guide and we visited the fleshpots with their x-rated floor shows.  Pattaya is like another country…it’s certainly not Thailand.  On the way back to Bangkok, Clem dropped me off at Suvarnabhumi, the new international airport.  I cooled my heels for several hours before I could check my bag and head for international departures.
