17-18SEP2004 When I arrived in Budapest, I followed the signs to the
Citidella. There is a breathtaking view of the old city and a very unusual
hostel. The rooms are in an old fort on the top of the hill.
There I met Rex, an interesting American, who travels Europe buying and
selling antique watches. He had great stories of danger and
intrigue. I bought a new watch from him so I could figure out the
date. And a new pair of sunglasses to replace the wonderful pair from
Thailand which were beginning to fall apart.
The next morning I lounged in the hot mineral baths of the Hotel Gellert.
I've never seen such richly decorated baths.
