Tamolich Pool

Merrill's Oregon Gotta See

When I'm traveling, I'm going to ask local people for their recommendations for special places that I "gotta see".

So, to return the favor, I'm going to recommend Tamolich Pool.  I've included a few photos, which don't capture the stunning turquoise color and the terrific fragrance of an old growth forest.  Click on these thumbnails for a more detailed view and imagine the freshest evergreen scented cool breeze ever.

The McKenzie River flows out of Clear Lake then disappears underground for a few miles.  It reappears in Tamolich Pool.  Walk only two miles from the trailhead on Oregon Hwy 126.  You can pitch your tent for free.  You can even take a public bus from Eugene to get close to the trailhead.
