Ubon Ratchatani has the biggest candle festival in Thailand and it's Ahng's hometown.  She drove us there for a four day weekend.

Before we left we went to a wedding for one of the teachers Clem and Ahng dress up. The wedding was at the high school in Ban Chiang The happy couple A parade float carved from candle wax

The detailed carving was impressive Many unique products were available at the street bazaar On the night before the parade, people got a close look at the floats The floats were lighted The carving was intricate

I really liked this float At the center of the park there was a giant candle We saw a pageant complete with 300 actors and huge explosions The pageant dramatized the history of Thailand At the parade dozens of English students interviewed me

The parade was spectacular Ants like fish Another float Ahng's family The sun was hot
